This is an isometric roguelike adventure about aliens ToeJam and Earl, who crash-land on Earth and search for the missing pieces of their ship, the Rapmaster Rocket, to return to Funkotron. The world changes between runs and is filled with Earthlings, secret locations, and hidden presents.
Players explore the levels and use presents they find, whose effects can be unpredictable. The game supports co-op for up to four players and features nine playable characters with different play styles. Progress unlocks more presents, power hats, characters, and levels; in the HyperFunk Zone, characters can power up or take part in a rhythm-matching mini-game.
