This fantasy action role-playing game is set in a world ravaged by war between two rival nations that summon armies of beasts and demons. Toma, a warrior who can wield the Shining Force, and Cyrille, a powerful sorceress, set out to restore peace and order to their divided world.
The player controls both protagonists on missions and quests while managing the Geo Fortress, their home base. Its layout and defenses can be developed over the course of the game. If the fortress comes under attack during an expedition, the player must switch to the defensive party and repel the invasion.
