Fortnite

Most of the planet was destroyed by a cataclysm that brought strange, zombie-like creatures into the world. The survivors called them Husks. The last remnants of humanity fight back from the safety of strange shelters built from various materials. Along the way, they try to understand what caused the strange purple storm that started it all.

The online shooter Fortnite was first released as a co-op game, where a team of four players must destroy waves of enemies and complete missions on the map. Later, the free-to-play Battle Royale mode was added. It is designed for 100 players, with the last survivor winning. Both modes are popular thanks to their fast-paced gameplay, a lengthy story campaign or intense battles against other players, and plenty of ways to level up that keep players coming back for more.

1) Random generation of all content: level terrain, buildings and roads, mission and task types, rewards and loot, weapon and equipment blueprints, and more.

2) Gathering resources from three basic and a dozen additional materials to build walls and other barriers, various traps, weapons, ammo and equipment (blueprints are required), and other useful items.

3) Building and destructible environments. Anything in the game can be broken down and put to better use—for example, to build a safe corridor for evacuating survivors or a fortress for protection. Enemies can destroy your structures too, so be careful!

An unknown purple cosmic storm swept across Earth. It immediately turned 97% of the planet's population into dozens of different kinds of Husks, which are somewhat like zombies. Different Husks serve different roles during attacks, and become more aggressive and stronger during the storm. The survivors found a way to protect themselves by building energy shields around their settlements. The player starts as the leader of one such settlement. They must provide for its residents, find other survivors, seek allies to expand the shield against the storm, and figure out how to return Earth to normal.

Fortnite's main menu is the player's base, with a map of the game world and its missions, character selection, leveling menus, and more. At first, everything will be surrounded by purple fog, but as the story progresses, it will recede farther from the base. The main goal is to destroy the storm for good and restore the planet to normal, but this will take 500 hours or more—that's how the game is designed. In Fortnite, side missions are closely tied to the story, and you can only learn its shocking details by completing 3–5 side missions.

Four hero classes (soldier, constructor, ninja, and outlander—their roles are clear from their names) are divided into five rarities: common, rare, epic, legendary, and mythic. Characters of the last rarity have more levels to upgrade, and more abilities and skills to unlock, than those of the first. While completing a mission, Fortnite players take on the role of an operative character, so they can try out all the classes and rarities. To upgrade characters, you need to earn experience during missions and development points, which are activated using special items and after unlocking skills.

This is the main game mode. You can play with friends or alone with bots. Gather resources, complete missions, build structures, set traps, and shoot enemies. If you complete all the quests exactly as the game requires, you’ll get extra rewards—money, experience, development points, blueprints, and more. The farther you get from your base, the harder the game becomes. You need to unlock the entire game zone.

Fortnite’s Battle Royale takes place on one huge map, and no gameplay features—including building and crafting—have been removed. But you can also ignore those and simply search the map for weapons, ammo, traps, and other items, which are randomly placed in houses, trees, cars, and similar locations. Over time, a purple storm surrounds the island, so you can’t stay in one place for long—you’ll have to move toward the center of the map, where it’s much more dangerous.

There are 100 players in each match, but only one winner. You can team up and compete against opponents in squads or duos, and revive fallen teammates. Be careful when shooting, since friendly fire also deals damage. A variety of vehicles and several battle maps, instead of just one, will be added soon.
