Chuckie Egg is a platform game in which the player collects eggs across multi-level stages before a countdown runs out. The character moves between platforms and ladders, and sometimes uses lifts that travel upwards and reappear at the bottom of the screen. Seed piles can be collected for points and briefly pause the timer, but patrolling hens may eat them. Touching a hen or falling through a gap at the bottom of a level costs a life.
The first eight levels take place under the watch of a giant duck in a cage. The set then repeats in several variations: first without hens, as a freed duck pursues the player, then with both the duck and hens, followed by additional hens and faster enemies. Completing all forty levels leads to a forty-first stage, which repeats one of the earlier levels.
