A farming simulator with sandbox and building elements, Plantera 2: Golden Acorn follows the round blue Mellows as they return to care for a garden and grow a magical oak tree. The player starts with a small plot and a few vegetable crops, then expands the garden to attract helpers who collect harvests and items.
Selling crops earns money, while tending the garden grants experience; leveling up unlocks new plants, trees, animals, decorations, and plots of land. Harvesting can be done by hand or left to the Mellows, who keep working even while the game is closed. The garden can be decorated and defended against unwelcome visitors, while the growing magical oak yields golden acorns.
