This puzzle strategy game follows twelve tribes of lemmings who must leave their island to escape a foretold great darkness. To survive, the tribes must gather the pieces of the Lemming Talisman and make their way through hazardous levels.
The player guides lemmings to exits by assigning skills that help them cross obstacles and avoid traps. There are 51 skills in total, though each level offers no more than eight, including abilities for digging, building and flying. The twelve themed worlds contain ten levels each, and survivors carry over between levels, sometimes making it necessary to replay earlier stages. A bronze, silver or gold medal is awarded according to how many lemmings reach the exit, and a practice mode is available for trying out skills.
