This strategy puzzle game, based on John Gibson’s board game, follows efforts to stop an evolving virus that threatens humanity. The player runs a New York City field office of the Department of Plague Control, deciding which parts of the virus to study, hiring staff, and purchasing equipment. The team includes scientists who do not always work well together and a resourceful lab rat named Marvin.
Using the staff and equipment, the player combines randomly generated proteins into parts of a vaccine while managing dwindling funds and a rising death toll. Random events in status reports can disrupt plans or provide assistance, and each failed containment brings defeat closer. The game features 14 viruses to cure and a custom mode with optional rules.
