A space combat simulator with story-driven missions follows the pilot of the Darkstar One as they travel deeper into the galaxy, encounter new races and face increasingly powerful opponents. Solar systems can be explored for artifacts left by ancient races, which are used to upgrade the ship. Credits can be earned through assignments, trading, smuggling, bounty hunting, piracy and other activities.
The ship can be configured for different combat styles with light or heavy weapons, shields and other equipment. Weapons acquired from other races have distinct properties, while rockets, torpedoes and mines offer additional tactical options. A special weapon grows more versatile as the story progresses. The pilot can take the role of a good or bad character and make use of political disputes.
