A naval combat simulator set in an alternate Cold War scenario, Cold Waters puts the player in command of a nuclear submarine tasked with preventing mutual destruction as World War III begins. Inspired by the novel and game Red Storm Rising, it combines real-time combat with tactical decisions about how to engage enemy forces.
The submarine intercepts convoys, amphibious landing forces and insertion missions, and fights enemy warships, submarines and aircraft. Its arsenal includes wire-guided torpedoes, anti-ship and cruise missiles, with a SEAL team occasionally on board. Performance affects the course of the dynamic campaign, while a realistic sonar model governs the search for contacts.
