A medieval strategy game based on the board game, in which players build a map of the area around Carcassonne by placing tiles depicting cities, roads, cloisters, and grassland. Each new tile must connect to those already on the board, matching adjacent landscape features.
After placing a tile, a player can deploy a follower on one of its areas: as a knight in a city, a robber on a road, a monk in a cloister, or a farmer on grassland. Completed areas score points, and players compete to claim cities, roads, and fields. The changing map makes each game different, with local and online modes for multiple players.
