A real-time strategy game with role-playing elements, Battle Mages follows a graduate of the Imperial School of Magic sent to face the trials of the Battle Mages Guild across the towers of the Internal World. After learning of an undead assault, the mage sets out to find a lost gnome artifact that could stop the threat and end a long, bloody war.
Players command squads while also taking part in the world’s events as the mage, who gains experience for completing quests and defeating monsters. Character progression includes spells, stats, and special abilities, while troops have a progression system of their own. Five races have distinct strengths and weaknesses; the world changes over time, and quests adapt to those changes.
